Kingston, Ontario

Kingston is a safe, university community of 120,000 population. Located at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, it is only a short drive from bigger cities like Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.

One of the most historic cities of Canada, Kingston is known as the ‘Limestone City’ as many of the early buildings are built with the limestone rock that underlies this area. Therefore, our Board of Education is also known as the Limestone District School Board

Kingston is home to the prestigious Queen’s University. The Royal Military College trains Canada’s military elite, while St. Lawrence College provides an extensive array of college programs.

Kingston has been rated as one of the best places to live in Canada beating out such well known cities as Vancouver and Toronto. (Maclean’s – April 2008)

The climate is moderate with four distinct seasons. Average winter temperature is –8 degrees C and the average summer temperature is 24 degrees C.

Kingston does not have large ethnic communities. Therefore, students are immersed in English.
